The holidays are over, and if you are like many people, so are your New Year’s Resolutions!

We start with such good intentions, and maybe they work for a while. But then we get tired or worried about our job or our finances, and little by little, they slip away.

But what if they don’t have to? Perhaps this can be the year when you really stick with your plans and reach your goals with weight loss, exercise, and healthy living. Wow, I would love to see that for myself, so I’m working on new ideas for staying on track with all of those things. [Read more…]

Welcome to winter, at least here in the Midwest.

I live in Iowa where we have already had several snow days as well as two days when the temperature never got above 5 degrees. I know, I should be used to it. But it still doesn’t make me very happy.

When the weather is cold and snowy, it makes me want to snuggle under a blanket and eat lots of cookies and candy bars. I grew up on a farm in South Dakota, and that was part of the way we coped with winter! [Read more…]

The Power of Friendship

The two women in the restaurant booth next to me smiled a lot. Over cups of decaf and the senior breakfast special, they chatted quietly about many things. Clearly, they were good friends and companions to each other.
