How to revive your “essential self”

Laughing girlLately I haven’t been feeling like myself.

I’m fine physically, but I seem to have lost touch mentally and emotionally with who I really am.

I’ve struggled with a series of questions:

Where did I go?
Why do I feel a little lost and unsettled, like I’m not sure who I am?

How to never stop on the scale at the doctor’s office

That dreaded doctor’s scale! Most of us, especially women, hate getting on that thing.

During my years of running a weight-loss clinic, I heard tons of stories from people who were upset about facing the scale at the doctor’s office.

How to lose weight when it’s TOO hard

Baby and teddy bear

There’s no getting around it. Losing weight (and maintaining) is hard.

And lately, for a lot of you, it seems to be extra hard.

Being your best YOU starts with building a vision of how you want to be and then taking steps toward becoming that. [Read more…]

Be your best ME

Instead of setting lofty goals you probably won’t accomplish, I suggest a much easier plan.

Do NOT follow these holiday eating tips!

Life is such a challenge right now and it can make you feel down and discouraged.

So instead of offering serious but sound advice, I am sharing holiday tips that are just plain silly but fun.

Go ahead and laugh at them, but of course, don’t actually do them.

They are kind of like believing that Santa comes down a chimney with a bag of toys. Oh, sorry! Didn’t realize you still believed that. [Read more…]

Holiday tips for the year of the virus!

Christmas cookies

Here are my 12 favorite holiday tips. I hope they will be helpful to you, even during this difficult and challenging season.

1. Walk before you eat
Even if it means bundling up in warm winter clothes, take a 20 or 30 min. walk before every holiday meal or event.

2. Don’t skip meals
On days when you have a big, special event, don’t try to “save up” calories by skipping any of your regular meals. [Read more…]
